Svenny’s winning team had a clear balance between setup, positioning, and spread pressure. Gardevoir with Gardevoirite, Telepathy, Modest, and Hyper Voice gave the team a strong special attacker that could also support with Helping Hand and stay safe with Protect. Gyarados used Gyaradosite with Intimidate, Dragon Dance, Crunch, Waterfall, and Protect, giving Svenny a physical setup option that could pressure games after early positioning.
The supporting structure was just as important. Grimmsnarl carried Light Clay with Prankster, Fake Out, Reflect, Light Screen, and Parting Shot, giving the team multiple ways to reduce damage and create turns. Garchomp added Life Orb offense with Dragon Claw, Earthquake, Rock Slide, and Protect, while Gholdengo brought Good as Gold, Metal Coat, Make It Rain, Shadow Ball, Nasty Plot, and Protect. Glimmora rounded out the six with Focus Sash, Toxic Debris, and coverage through Power Gem, Sludge Bomb, and Earth Power. The result was a team that could play behind screens, threaten boosts with Dragon Dance or Nasty Plot, and still apply immediate damage through Life Orb Garchomp and Metal Coat Gholdengo.
Across the top teams, several patterns stood out. Paldean Tauros Aqua Breed appeared on both Chandeliere’s second-place team and IanCCx’s fourth-place team, both with Intimidate, Adamant, Aqua Jet, and Protect. Talonflame also appeared on both of those teams with Sharp Beak and Gale Wings, using Tailwind and Will-O-Wisp as common support points. Tsareena was another shared pick between second and fourth, both using Wide Lens, Queenly Majesty, Adamant, Triple Axel, and Protect.
The top cut also showed repeated reliance on speed and field-control tools. Tailwind appeared on Talonflame and also on Staraptor and Kleavor in the wider top eight. Trick Room appeared on Banette, Sinistcha, Galarian Slowking, and Malamar. Light Clay screens were present on Svenny’s Grimmsnarl and Enricooo’s Klefki. Focus Sash was used on Glimmora, Basculegion, Sneasler, and Kingambit, while Life Orb showed up on Garchomp, Paldean Tauros Aqua Breed, Sylveon, Meowscarada, and Kleavor.
Takeaway for ladder players: build with a concrete speed-control plan, but make sure the team still has immediate damage and defensive positioning when that plan is denied.
