Regulation M-B: Open League #3 results recap

Regulation M-B: Open League #3 was a 198-player online event on Limitless, played under Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-B on 2026-08-01. Philip9804 finished first at 11-1-0, winning the final round match against optimalopponent. The other listed final round results were staramiiga over jay49 and snaporas over badbobby.

Place Player Record Team
1 Philip9804 [DE] 11-1-0 Milotic, Staraptor, Excadrill, Gholdengo, Sinistcha, Tyranitar
2 StarAmiiga 9-3-0 Sneasler, Gholdengo, Sinistcha, Raichu, Gyarados, Pelipper
3 Kevin B [PR] 8-3-0 Charizard, Venusaur, Garchomp, Incineroar, Eternal Flower Floette, Sinistcha
4 DentonVGC [US] 8-3-0 Eternal Flower Floette, Incineroar, Sinistcha, Basculegion, Whimsicott, Glimmora

Philip9804’s winning team was built around a clear Sand Stream plus Sand Rush pairing: Tyranitar with Tyranitarite and Excadrill with Focus Sash. Tyranitar supplied Rock Slide pressure, Knock Off, Low Kick, and Protect, while Excadrill gave the team High Horsepower, Iron Head, Rock Slide, and Protect. That combination created a straightforward physical damage mode that could pressure both single targets and spread positions.

The rest of the team gave that sand core more flexibility. Staraptor carried Staraptite, Intimidate, Tailwind, Brave Bird, Close Combat, and Protect, adding speed control and another physical attacker. Milotic with Sitrus Berry and Competitive punished opposing Intimidate while contributing Scald, Icy Wind, Ice Beam, and Protect. Gholdengo provided a special attacking win condition with Life Orb, Good as Gold, Make It Rain, Shadow Ball, Nasty Plot, and Protect. Sinistcha rounded out the composition with Colbur Berry, Hospitality, Matcha Gotcha, Strength Sap, Protect, and Rage Powder, giving the team redirection and recovery support while still applying damage.

Across the top teams, Sinistcha was the clearest shared pick. It appeared on each of the top seven teams, with Colbur Berry on the first four finishers except Philip9804’s set also using Colbur Berry, StarAmiiga’s using Colbur Berry, Kevin B’s using Colbur Berry, and DentonVGC’s using Colbur Berry. Its common move package centered on Matcha Gotcha, Rage Powder, and Protect, with the final slot varying between Strength Sap, Life Dew, Trick Room, or Shadow Ball depending on the team.

Gholdengo also had a strong showing near the top, appearing on the first, second, and sixth-place teams. Philip9804 and jay49 both used Life Orb with Make It Rain, Shadow Ball, Nasty Plot, and Protect, while StarAmiiga used Leftovers with the same four moves. Focus Sash was another recurring item, appearing on Excadrill, Sneasler, Venusaur, Whimsicott, Pelipper, and Lycanroc Dusk across the listed top eight.

There were also several repeated structural ideas. Philip9804 and jay49 used very similar Tyranitar, Milotic, Staraptor, Excadrill, Gholdengo, and Sinistcha compositions. StarAmiiga and optimalopponent both included Sneasler and Raichu with Raichunite Y. Kevin B and DentonVGC both used Eternal Flower Floette, Incineroar, and Sinistcha. Pelipper appeared on StarAmiiga and bobawong, both with Drizzle, Tailwind, Weather Ball, Hurricane, and Wide Guard.

Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Sinistcha support cores, Gholdengo setup pressure, and fast Focus Sash attackers backed by strong speed control.
