Sooner’s winning team was built around layered pressure rather than a single obvious mode. Rillaboom provided the familiar Grassy Surge package with Miracle Seed, Fake Out, Wood Hammer, High Horsepower, and Grassy Glide, giving the team both board control and strong priority damage. Sneasler added a second Fake Out user, with White Herb and Unburden supporting Close Combat, Quick Guard, and Dire Claw. That combination let Sooner contest early positioning while still threatening immediate offense.
The Mega choices gave the team two different attacking angles. Dragonite with Dragoninite used a Modest special set of Protect, Dragon Pulse, Heat Wave, and Tailwind, giving Sooner speed control without relying only on Sneasler. Delphox with Delphoxite brought Protect, Psychic, Heat Wave, and Nasty Plot, giving the team a setup option that could pressure both slots. Behind that, Life Orb Kingambit offered Defiant, Kowtow Cleave, Sucker Punch, Swords Dance, and Protect, while Focus Sash Basculegion added Adaptability damage with Liquidation, Last Respects, and Aqua Jet. The result was a team with Fake Out, Tailwind, setup, priority, and a late-game Basculegion line all present in the same six.
Across the top teams, Rillaboom stood out as one of the most repeated Pokemon. Sooner and altkyle both used Miracle Seed Grassy Surge Rillaboom with Fake Out, Wood Hammer, Grassy Glide, and High Horsepower, while toxiccrusader48 and Vinnamon also had Rillaboom in the top 8. Sneasler was similarly common, appearing on Sooner, KingOfRamen, Kojay, and Adri123, usually with Unburden and Fake Out.
Dragoninite Dragonite appeared on both first and second place teams, each with Inner Focus, Modest nature, Tailwind, Dragon Pulse, and Protect. Basculegion also had a strong showing on Sooner, KingOfRamen, and Adri123, though the items and abilities varied between Focus Sash, Mystic Water, Adaptability, and Swift Swim. Life Orb showed up on key attackers including Sooner’s Kingambit, altkyle’s Gholdengo, butterducks’s Kingambit, and Rillaboom on toxiccrusader48 and Vinnamon.
The top 8 also showed several Trick Room structures: butterducks used Galarian Slowking and Indeedee ♀ with Trick Room, toxiccrusader48 had Farigiraf with Trick Room, and Vinnamon had Farigiraf with Trick Room. At the same time, Tailwind remained prominent through Dragonite and Salamence, while Choice Scarf appeared on Annihilape, Garchomp, and Pelipper.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Fake Out-heavy teams that can pivot between Tailwind, priority pressure, and Trick Room answers.
